Baltic BBQ Boyz - The Team Baltic BBQ Boyz

The World's First Baltic-American BBQ Team!

THEME

Established in 2006, the Baltic BBQ Boyz have quickly made a name for itself as a serious contender on the competitive barbecue circuit. Based in Shoreline, Washington, our team travels throughout the Pacific Northwest, competing in events sanctioned by the Pacific Northwest Barbecue Association and the Kansas City Barbecue Society as well as a variety of independent events.

We're also kind of unique in that we are an 'ad-hoc' team. What that means is that aside from the Head Cook, the team is made up of whoever wants to join! If you are interested in joining the team, please contact us!

Head Cook: Ryan Ositis

Ryan Ositis

Ample in both size and attitude, Ryan can be easily found in the crowd during competitions. Just look for his trademark hat!

Ryan is a first generation Latvian-American as his father's family hails from the glorious Republic of Latvia, having emigrated to the United States shortly after World War II. In honor of this heritage, Ryan strives to combine the traditional ingredients of Latvian cooking with the classics of American barbecue. The result is outstanding, hearty, big-flavor barbecue.

Sous Chef and Chief Backer: Kim Ositis

In most stereotypical marriages, it's the woman who does most of the cooking. Not so here! Kim considers a meal that requires having to turn on two burners on the stove to be a gourmet event. She is more than happy to let Ryan show off his cooking skills. While Ryan wields his tongs around the pit, Kim makes sure that everything is clean and prepped when he needs it. Kim and Ryan work as a well-oiled team, especially during the organized chaos of turn-in time.

As a full-time working mom, Kim provides the financial backing for the barbecue team - by far the tastiest of Ryan's varied hobbies.

Kids Q: Nick and Natalie Ositis

At nine years old, Nick is starting to show interest in cooking and barbecue. He competed in his first Kids Q competition in 2007 and plans on competing in many more in the future. Nick is a great helper around the cook site.

Four-year-old Natalie is always on the lookout to make new friends at competitions. Natalie's outgoing personality and natural curiosity has resulted in a number of "memorable" incidents, though the police let her off with a warning last time.
